Is this qualification for me?
This qualification is suitable for people who have limited payroll experience
or for those who haven’t studied for some years, and want to
expand their knowledge and understanding to enable them to move upwards
in the payroll profession.
At the end of their studies they will be capable of being a Payroll Supervisor or Team Leader and will have learnt skills in payroll procedures and project planning – as well as an in-depth knowledge of payroll legislation and employment law.

The qualification is level 4 Diploma in Payroll Supervision
accredited by Edexcel/BTEC.
On successful completion you can use the letters PA(Dip)Sup
(Supervisory Member of Payroll Alliance) after your name.
The course is divided into 5 study modules; each module has two assignments to be completed by the students once they have completed the module's study material.Feedback is given to the students at each stage of the Diploma and assignment tips, guidance and use of the Student helpdesk for advice are provided.
Course Syllabus: Diploma in Payroll Supervision
Module 1 introduces students to the PAYE system and how the tax year is constructed. As part of their assignment students are required to perform a number of manual calculations of tax, NI and statutory payments to arrive at the correct net pay.
Module 2 covers technical issues and employment law and includes employee rights, court orders, termination payments and taxation of benefits in kind plus how to deal with more advanced National Insurance situations.
Module 3 involves payroll procedures including how to deal with overpayments, pay increases, starters, leavers and the correct treatment of statutory and voluntary deductions.
Module 4 concentrates on payroll supervision and centres on reconciliation procedures, payroll costs, deadlines, timetables and data verification. This module also deals with how to prevent payroll fraud and dealing with employees’ complaints.
Module 5 is the final module and examines office supervision such as staff supervision, relationships with other departments and delegation.
